What is an ePortfolio?

In this week, you will build a personal electronic portfolio or “ePortfolio.” An ePortfolio is a purposeful digital collection of artifacts created by a student that includes course-related work and professional achievements, such as papers, certificates, presentations, posters, photographs, videos, and so on. An ePortfolio can also include other aspects of a student’s life, for instance, volunteer experiences, employment history, extracurricular activities, and more. You will complete your ePortfolio in MHA690. Once you graduate, it can be used to demonstrate your skills and competencies to potential employers and the professional community.

Your ePortfolio will be developed and hosted using Folio, the ePortfolio tool the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) uses. As an UAGC student, not only will you have access to Folio during your time at UAGC, but you will retain lifetime unlimited access after leaving the university without fees or capacity limit.

Build Your ePortfolio

For this assignment, it is required that you complete the components outlined below for Part 1: Introduction and Part 2: Competencies in Health Care Administration. You will not only upload your work to your ePortfolio, but you will also need to upload all documents to Waypoint for grading.

Part 1: Introduction

Complete the following in the Introduction of the Profile section:

  • Summarize who you are from a professional perspective.
  • Determine your leadership style (e.g., servant leadership, transformational leadership, ethical leadership, etc.).
    • Be sure to provide one to two sentences of evidence to support your identified leadership. Your identified leadership must be backed up by a peer-reviewed journal article published in the last 5 years.   • Describe what you value in relation to health care administration.
  • Compose a personal mission statement.

  • Construct a statement of your career objective(s).
    • Your career objective should be clear and specific.

Part 2: Competencies in Health Care Administration

Complete the following in the Portfolio section of your ePortfolio:

  • Identify two pieces of coursework from your previous MHA course(s) that align with two of the five executive competencies outlined by American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE):
    • communication and relationship
    • leadership
    • professionalism
    • knowledge of the health care environment
    • business skills and knowledge
  • Create two projects of your choices (e.g., leadership and professionalism) for your portfolio that showcases your previous coursework aligned with executive competencies of your choices.
  • Add the evidence from two pieces of your previous coursework to your two designated projects to demonstrate acquired skills and knowledge in two selected ACHE competencies. 
    • Upload your research papers, projects, PowerPoint presentations, video creations, or reports from any of the MHA courses to show proof of proficiency. 
    • Consider using graphics, audio, or video for further illustration and interest.

NOTE: Be sure to publish your project so that your instructor can view it. Additionally, provide the link to your ePortfolio.
