Stauffer Chapter 16: discusses how addiction affects the whole family and that the integrated approach (individual and their family) is the most effective treatment. Chapter 17: discusses how a counselor can approach trauma and abuse with a family. Signs, symptoms, and statistics are provided. Self-care for the therapist is also addressed as this can be very difficult work. Chapter 18: addresses the losses that a family might experience and how to treat these.
