o Interpret findings and effectively report the results of the analysis.
o Develop the concept of correlation and regression, analyze, compute, and interpret the regression output.
This assignment tests your understanding of data collection, summarizing data, correlation and regression analysis, probability and report writing. It also tests your ability to analyze data, to plot appropriate charts and to paste results and charts from Excel into a Word document. In addition, you should be able to discern the appropriateness and purpose of the above techniques.

Case Study
Introduction Developer Productivity and Burnout
In today’s digital economy, software developers face increasing workloads, long screen exposure, and tight deadlines, which may affect their stress and burnout levels. Understanding the relationship between work patterns, lifestyle habits, and burnout is essential for organisations to improve employee well-being and productivity.
This case study analyses a dataset of software developers, focusing on factors such as working hours, sleep, caffeine intake, productivity (bugs and commits), and lifestyle behaviours (exercise).
The data set provided includes the following variables:
- Age (years)
- Experience Years
- Daily Work Hours
- Sleep Hours
- Caffeine Intake
- Bugs per Day
- Commitments per Day
- Meetings per Day
- Screen Time (hours)
- Exercise Hours
- Stress Level (score)
- Burnout Level (Low, Medium, High).
You need to select 200 data at random from the given data set uploaded in myTIMES under the name Burnout.xls and answer the following question.
Answer all questions in Parts A, B and C using the 200 selected data.
**Units must be specified clearly in the report (marks will be deducted otherwise).
Part A: Data Analysis [39 Marks]
- Identify whether the analysis you consider in this survey is a population or sample. Provide a relevant reason. [1 mark]
- Identify the type of each variable and indicate whether it is qualitative or quantitative and state the level of measurement.[6 marks]
- By using Excel, construct frequency tables and draw an appropriate graph for ALL the variables. Briefly write a summary for each of the graphs.[12 marks]
- By using Excel, construct a descriptive statistics table for two quantitative data variables which include QUARTILE 1, QUARTILE 3 and inter -quartile range (IQR) for both variables. [4 marks]
- Write a report (between 300 and 500 words in length) to summarize the results of your analysis in QUESTION 4. The report should include interpretation of results such as measure of location, measure of dispersion, distribution of the data, comparison of the results whenever possible, the appropriate descriptive summary, and the conclusion.[16 marks]
Part B: Correlation And Regression [32 Marks]
1. Select ONE dependent variable and ONE independent variable from the dataset to investigate their relationship.
Identify the dependent and the independent variable. Use Excel to draw a scatterplot. Add a trend line. Explain your graph.[5 marks]
Use Excel to generate a summary output for regression analysis. From the output, determine the regression equation. [4 marks]
Write a short report based on your results in part (b). Your report must include the strength of the relationship, the amount of variation explained and the significance of the model. ( marks]
2. Select ANOTHER independent variable (different from Question 1) and repeat the analysis with the same dependent variable.
a) Identify the dependent and the independent variable. Use Excel to draw a scatterplot. Add a trend line. Explain your graph.[5 marks]
b) Use Excel to generate a summary output for regression analysis. From the output, determine the regression equation.[4 marks]
c) Write a short report based on your results in part (b). Your report must include the strength of the relationship, the amount of variation explained and the significance of the model. (5 marks]
3. Compare both relationships from part (1) and (2) and discuss which independent variable has a stronger relationship with the dependent variable and possible reasons for the difference. [4 marks]
Part C: Probability [19 Marks]
1. Construct a table showing the number of developers for Burnout Level (Low, Medium, High) and Caffeine Intake category (Low, Moderate, High) – defining group by cups below:
This table must be complete with the row and column totals. [4 marks]
2. Draw an appropriate chart to represent the information given on the table above (Q1). Explain the chart briefly. [5 marks]
3. If a developer is selected randomly, compute:
a) The probability that the developer has medium burnout OR High caffeine intake. [2 marks]
b) The probability that the developer has High burnout GIVEN High caffeine intake. [2 marks]
c) The probability that the developer has medium burnout AND Low caffeine intake. [2 marks]
d) The probability that the developer has NOT High burnout. [2 marks]
e) The probability that the developer has Low caffeine intake GIVEN that the developer does NOT have High burnout. [2 marks]
**Write the probability notation and final answer in 2 decimal places (marks will be deducted otherwise).
Part D: Group-Reflection On Learning [10 Marks]
1. Discussion of What did you learn from engaging in this project? Relate with 3 Taylor’s TGC. [6 marks]
2. What parts/aspects were challenging? [2 marks]
3. Recommendation for improvement for group project. [2 marks]
