The purpose of your final assignment project is for you to apply knowledge, concepts, and techniques learned in this class to a real-life situation. You should draw from the course material—books, websites, handouts, and class discussions—for information.
The premise of this project is that you have been selected by upper management of your company to be the lead project manager of a critical project. As the project manager, you are responsible for creating a project management plan. This project management plan will be your final project. The outline and requirements are provided below.
In Session 1, you selected a topic from among the following three project options:
Large Systems Implementation or IT Data Center Consolidation Project
You will be responsible for managing the consolidation of two data centers or the implementation of a large new system or software tool (e.g. Knowledge Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management tools, etc.) at several locations across multiple departments impacting at least 2000 people.
New Application Development Project or New Product Project
You will be responsible for managing a project to implement a new enterprise software tool. Approximately 2000 people will use this implementation across all functional units in the organization.
Building of a New Fighter Jet (e.g. F35) Project
You will be responsible for managing a project to build a new fighter jet for the military across multiple military branches.
Final Paper Requirements (125 points)
The completed project should be 11- to 12-pages long. It is an iterative, updated compilation of the previous sessions (Sessions 1-4) and the inclusion of Session 5. It will summarize the work performed and conclusions made regarding the project. It will include any relevant material in the appendices (e.g. surveys, graphs, charts, etc.) as well as a complete reference page. You must follow current APA guidelines.
