2.  Assignment Background

The construction industry is increasingly adopting digital technologies to improve procurement efficiency, transparency, collaboration, cost management, and project delivery. E-Procurement enables construction organisations to conduct procurement activities electronically, while Building Information Modelling (BIM) provides an integrated digital approach for managing project information throughout the project lifecycle.

Despite the potential benefits, the implementation of E-Procurement faces various technical, organisational, financial, and information-management challenges. BIM may provide opportunities to address some of these challenges by improving information integration, quantity information, communication, coordination, and decision-making.

3.  Main Question

E-Procurement and BIM are increasingly recognised as important digital approaches for improving construction procurement and project delivery. However, their implementation can be affected by various technical and organisational challenges.

Using relevant academic literature, industry reports and construction examples, critically analyse how E-Procurement can be integrated with BIM to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the construction procurement process.

Suggest feasible solutions or strategies in improving E-Procurement in the construction industry. Discuss best practices for enhancing adoption and integration of e-procurement and BIM. Where possible, align with digital transformation.

d. Conclusion

Summarize key findings and reflect on the future of E-procurement in the construction industry.
