In this assignment, you will search for LinkedIn users who are affiliated with AMIA (the American Medical Informatics Association) or HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), medical informatics, or health data and review their LinkedIn profiles. You will use this research to revise your own LinkedIn profile to better reflect your professional skills, field of study, and career goals. If you don’t want to create a LinkedIn profile, you can perform research on the AMIA: Informatics Professionals: Leading the Way  website or the HIMSS website, and use the downloadable template provided below to practice this process.

To complete this assignment,

• Identify industry-relevant people or job postings on  LinkedIn the HIMSS website, or the AMIA website.
  • Go to LinkedIn and use the search bar to search “AMIA,” “HIMSS,” “Medical Informatics,” or “Health Data.”
  • Refine your search results by clicking “People” at the top of your screen.
  • You can also visit the AMIA website, click “Career Center,” and review some of the recent job postings and their job functions or responsibilities.
  • You can visit the HIMSS website, click “Resources,” click on “HIMSS JobMine,” and review some of the recent job postings and their job functions or responsibilities.
• Locate industry-specific skills, terms, or phrases on LinkedIn or in a job description. Consider the following questions as you complete your search:
  • Do some LinkedIn users declare membership in AMIA? HIMSS?
  • Do they use similar terminology in their “About” section or the “Skills & Endorsements” section?
  • Are the jobs posted in the AMIA career center or HIMSS JobMine seeking similar knowledge, skills, or abilities?
• Demonstrate the use of industry-relevant skills, terms, or phrases on your own LinkedIn profile or in the LinkedIn Profile Template.
• Revise your LinkedIn profile to better reflect your professional skills or developing skills using industry-relevant terminology.
• It is particularly valuable to update the “Headline,’” “About,” and “Skills & Endorsements” sections of your LinkedIn profile as these sections are searchable for recruiters and colleagues.
• You can also update the “Licenses & Certifications” section with any industry-related license or certifications you have earned. You can find instructions for updating this section in the LinkedIn Profile Template
• Use the LinkedIn Profile Template to complete this assignment.
• If you update your LinkedIn profile, include screenshots of the updates you made in each appropriate section.
• Your screenshots should include the industry-relevant terminology you used to update your profile.
• If you did not update your profile, complete the sections in the template as if you were going to update your profile.

The LinkedIn Optimization paper

• must be three double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style.
• must include a separate title page with the following in title case:
  • title of paper in bold font
    • Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.

  • course name and number
  •  instructor’s name
