To effectively address a global ethical issue, it is essential to involve people across the globe. Climate change, for example, cannot be adequately addressed by only one or two nations. The more nations that work together to address climate change, the more likely we are to achieve positive outcomes for our planet.
Directions
For the Module One short paper, you had the opportunity to review the Paris Agreement, also called the Paris Accords or the Paris Climate Accords, to identify the benefits of using an ethical framework in the global management of climate change. The Paris Agreement is linked in the Supporting Materials section below. For this short paper, you will further examine the Paris Agreement and determine the potential ethical frameworks used by the nations that developed it to address climate change.
Specifically, you must address the following:
Ethical Framework: Explain which ethical framework or frameworks you believe were used for the creation of the Paris Agreement.
Consider all the ethical frameworks addressed in this course. Many of them can be referenced in the Frameworks, Principles, Ethics, Morals, and Values document linked in the Supporting Materials section. Which elements from any or all of these frameworks were used in the Paris Agreement? Explain.
Nations That Signed On: Explain how the framework or frameworks determined which nations that signed on to the treaty. Use examples of specific nations.
What to Submit
Your submission should be a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Use at least 1 source from the Project Resources document or the Shapiro Library to support your paper. Sources should be cited according to APA style both throughout and at the end of your paper.
Alternatively, Brightspace allows the use of video notes. You may optionally use the Video Note tool to complete this assignment, but if you must refer to your sources verbally throughout your video and submit a separate references page.
