Part 1: Infographic (70 marks)

Recognise the importance of applying relevant concepts and theories that you learned in the course to convince your target audience about debunking your selected myth. Describe these concepts and theories of psychology and apply them to your infographic.

Getting started:

• Select one of the myths and conduct your research on the topic to find reliable sources that will help you debunk it.
• Read widely to gain a good understanding of the topic concerned and consider psychological theories and concepts that explain why it is a myth. Start with your eBook and search for academic journal articles using Google Scholar or our SUSS Library via Canvas (avoid internet sources such as Wikipedia, blog sites or blog posts, unpublished or online articles with no publication date (n.d.), student thesis/papers, academic resources from other universities/colleges, etc.).
• Identify research findings that support the debunking of the myth – these are empirical/scientific evidence to support your stance.
• Aim to educate your target audience about why it is a myth and not a fact. Your explanations should be illustrated in the infographic in a way that will convince the viewer that it is a myth.
• There is no need for citations in the infographic unless a specific research study is cited, in which case, state the researcher(s) and year of publication within brackets:
  • 1 researcher: (Surname, year)
  • 2 researchers: (Surname1 & Surname2, year)
  • More than 2 researchers: (Surname1 et al., year)

Part 2: Annotated Bibliography (30 marks)

Following the APA referencing format, present a list of the top 5 sources you relied on to prepare your infographic. For each reference item, annotate a short note (no more than 100 words each) explaining its relevance to preparing your infographic.

Guidelines

• The sources you referred to when preparing your infographic should include your course textbook and relevant academic journal articles using Google Scholar or the SUSS Library accessible from Canvas.
• Avoid internet sources such as Wikipedia, blog sites or blog posts, unpublished or online articles with no publication date (n.d.), student thesis/papers, academic resources from other universities/colleges, etc.
• You may present your annotation below each bibliography listed in APA format.
• Apply the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing format for the bibliography. Refer to the PSY Referencing Guide (available in Canvas L01 site under Modules) and the APA website http://www.apastyle.org.
• If you use any referencing tools, you must check and correct the output as the APA formatting tend not to be accurate.
• DO NOT use AI tools such as, but not limited to, Grammarly, QuillBot, and ChatGPT as such generated output will be detected by Turnitin.
