ASML is a Netherlands-based multinational company and the world’s leading manufacturer of photolithography systems it is the only company capable of producing Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines, one of the most advanced technologies required for manufacturing cutting-edge semiconductors. China represented one of ASML’s fastest- growing markets due to significant investment in semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
The U.S. government has implemented export control policies aimed at restricting China’s access to advanced semiconductor technologies. Although ASML is a Dutch company, its products incorporate technologies and components originating from multiple countries, including the United States. Through diplomatic pressure and strategic cooperation with allies, the U.S. government has encouraged the Dutch government to restrict exports of ASML’s most advanced equipment to Chinese customers.
Write a report critically evaluating the external and internal environmental influences of ASML’s decisions on international business and the impact of U.S.–China tariff wars and the trade conflict.
